With Piggy Bank, Charlotte Vercruysse has created a ceramic object that challenges the choice between saving and spending. The beautifully crafted money box has graphically placed rows of slots to insert coins. A rubber plug, to take money back out at any chosen moment, has been left out. The only option to get to the coins is to break the piece. Perhaps it will never be broken and spin around forever.

Piggybank was part of the exhibition Money's Worth at Galerie Sofie Lachaert in 2013.

The object is part of a limited edition series of 50. It comes in a box alongside instructions and a fine hammer to proceed to the final act of breaking it.
